When once asked by a Pastor of a Church in a confidential one on one session, if you count God not being present, he asked me the ubiquitous question "What does God mean to you?"
After a brief pause to collect my thoughts in readiness for such an important question albeit colloquial in nature, my reply as truthful as I could muster in the moment was that "God represented to me all things good".
Asking me to elaborate somewhat I further added "I believe God's name was Good, and over time they shortened it to God". We both had a chuckle.
Looking back I still espouse this former view, albeit not the only view, noting that good is in us all just as God is.
No matter how much pain and suffering is at the forefront of your life or in that of a person causing nastiness, good is in all people and must be truly remembered and practiced, for this is the test. If you can do this, you are well on the way to help curing the ills of humanity.
With love, kindness and peace
Michael
